We have been learning about fractions. We investigated fraction families and started to explore equivalent fractions.
Trip to the Giant's Causeway
We had a fun day exploring the famous Giant's Causeway and enjoying the scenery of the North Coast. We heard about the legend of Finn McCool and found his boot, saw the chimneys of his house, and even spotted his camel, Humphrey! We had time to explore rock pools and to climb over the distinctive Causeway stones. We also learned a bit about the geology behind the well-known rocks.
P6 Taster Day at Ballymena Academy
We had lots of fun at the Ballymena Academy taster day. It gave us a chance to see what sorts of subjects we might be doing when we go to 'big' school. We were cool science investigators, we were very active and sporty in PE, we made delicious fruit pizzas in Home Economics, and we made lots of noise (but very rhythmically!) in music. Take a look at our photos to see what we were doing.
During our World Around Us topic on Rainforests, we completed various beautiful pieces of art. We loved the vibrant and striking colours of the parrots, so we explored them through sketching, oil pastels, and stitching. Have a look some of our masterpieces.
P6 recently visited Dunclug College to take part in a STEM day (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) run by Sentinus. We had to program robots to allow them to negotiate a course and fire the cannon at a target. Everyone showed a lot of persistence and teamwork. We had to run the robots and then debug the program if it didn't work. Many teams hit the target, and some even managed to extend their program to fire at more than one target. Look at our photos and videos to see us in action.
This term our class is learning all about India. We are discovering what a varied country it is. We visited the Sanskriti Exhibition at the Braid Centre, where we found out about Indian culture and got to try block printing. Have a look at our photos to see how much fun we had.
