Nurture

Ballymena Primary is a Nurture School

We deliver nurture support with trained members of staff, for both small groups and 1-1, in a safe comfortable space where children can talk and use a variety of resources to communicate to ensure children's social and emotional wellbeing.

In The Nest, our nurture room, children are provided opportunity to grow in confidence, develop self worth, self respect, create positive relationships and reduce anxiety.

Through short term interventions children develop vocabulary and strategies to express feelings and emotions effectively.  They experience security and care, build self esteem and a sense of pride in their achievements.  Children learn to relate positively to others and overcome social and emotional barriers to learning.

In classrooms safe spaces have been set up for pupils to use during class time if required.

Examples of intereventions and activities offered within Ballymena Primary include:

- Drawing and Talking

- Lego Therapy

- Art and Play based Therapy
