Rights Respecting School
The United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child is based on an analysis of children’s needs, classified under four main aspects. These are to:
- survive as a fit and healthy person
- be protected from harm and abuse
- develop physically, mentally and socially
- participate as an active citizen
We are delighted to have achieved the Rights Respecting School Award, Level 1 through UNICEF. In so doing, we have demonstrated the commitment of our governors, Principal and teachers in implementing Article 42 of the UN Convention on children’s rights. All pupils and staff are now aware of the CRC and our classrooms demonstrate a rights respecting ethos. Through our class and school councils, Eco team and Middleton micro-community we demonstrate how pupils actively participate in decision making throughout the school.
