Special Needs
Ballymena Primary is committed to inclusion and diversity. Consequently, all children, irrespective of their needs, are welcomed. Our Learning Support Programme liaises with other professionals including psychologists, doctors, occupational therapists, speech therapists and social workers to provide a programme which is best suited to the child's learning needs using the staff available to this end. Targeted intervention comes in the form of programmes such as "Catch Up Literacy", "Catch Up Numeracy", as well as classroom intervention, all geared towards helping children learn at their own level and gain a greater understanding of the learning areas and how they can succeed in each of them. Pastoral and/or academic support is monitored, and all staff are committed to meeting the needs of all the children in their class.
