Sustrans Project
At Ballymena Primary School, we have completed our Silver Award for sustainable travel to and from school. We want to encourage our pupils to travel to school in an active way to achieve the following aims:
- To improve pupil health and well-being by encouraging regular exercise
- To make our school entrance safer by reducing traffic and educating pupils on road safety
- To lessen our impact on the environment by reducing traffic
We completed a range of activities and events to spread this message, including Neon Day, on-road cycle training, The Big Pedal, bicycle workshops, cycling proficiency and regular assemblies and visits from our Sustrans officer Johnny, and successfully achieved the Bronze and Silver Award.
